Hard Moves on Class III Water

Teresa Gryder’s winter skill builders are for class III (or more) paddlers interested in polishing boat handling skills, getting used to a new boat, or getting back in shape for paddling. We have a bunch of hard moves figured out on a favorite class III run, and we’d love to challenge you to try them too. If you don’t have an eskimo roll you will be expected to practice the T-rescue and use it, and this includes canoeists. If kayakers have a roll on one side, we’ll want to see your off-side roll. Group size will be limited.

Each paddler must have a full kit of proper equipment including the five essentials plus a drysuit, bomber footwear, full floatation in your boat, a whistle, rope and knife, and a lunch, of course.

Watch for an email via the Club’s Google Group for signups closer to the date.

This skill builder trip is NOT a good option for a brand new or tentative paddler, nor will it be enjoyable for someone who just wants to ‘go down the river’. This mission IS a good option for an experienced paddler who is new to the region, or someone getting back to class III or more paddling, or for a less experienced charger who is rolling reliably and ready to learn fast.
