Breaking Down Scary Rapids w/ Sage Donnelly

Did you miss it? You can watch MOST (sorry, we forgot to hit record in the beginning) of this online discussion, and many others, on the club’s youtube channel HERE.

Have you ever found yourself feeling super scared above a rapid? Of course you have! This talk is for all of us, because fear is a common denominator that connects us in this sport. Whether you are just getting started or have been boating for years, are a class II paddler or run bigger rapids, you surely have felt some fear above a rapid or two.

Special guest Sage Donnelly, recently named the 2021 U21 Female Paddler of the Year by Kayak Sessions magazine, will tell us how she breaks down scary rapids, and how you can too.

In 2021, Sage Donnelly won a triple crown — winning the North Fork Championship, the Russell Fork Race and the Green Race. She also lapped Fantasy Falls, styled the Untouchables, and took on the Susitna, a big water and big rapid(!) river in Alaska. Sage is a Kokotat brand ambassador and an instructor with the California Watersport Collective. Surely breaking down scary rapids is a skill that Sage has fine-tuned.

Bring your burning questions for Sage; we’ll have lots of time for a Q&A session.
