A club for people who love paddling rivers

The Lower Columbia Canoe Club is first and foremost a recreational paddling club.

Based in Portland, Ore., the club has the distinct advantage of access to over 100 local rivers within a 100-mile radius. The region boasts 44 wild and scenic rivers.

Join us in paddling paradise.

Club trips and events take place on flat water, moving water, and whitewater. Members paddle tandem and solo canoes, C-1s, hard shell kayaks, inflatable kayaks (IKs), and stand up paddle boards (SUPs). The club organizes day trips on local rivers, hosts themed events, and schedules weekend-long campouts alongside favorite regional runs. When schedules and interests align, we love to include other paddling clubs in our events.

Trips and Events

We offer skill building clinics and develop progression classes tailored to member needs. Oftentimes, our more experienced club members conduct the classes and clinics. Other times we partner with professional instructors.

Online Discussions

In addition to events that take place in real life and on the water, the Lower Columbia Canoe Club also offers online discussions and presentations via Zoom, typically in the winter and early spring. Our popular Safety Series is free and open to the public, while our signature Take Out Talks, featuring paddlesport professionals and others, are often for members only. Previous speakers have included Charlie Walbridge, Marc Hunt, Nouria Newman, Sage Donnelly, Ben Morton, Rafa Ortiz and more.

“I love paddling with the LCCC because of its inclusiveness and emphasis on safety. I always feel welcome and supported when on a club trip.”
